The holidays are fast-approaching and I always associate this time of year with makeup that's metallic, shiny or sparkly. There's a tiny box from Shu Uemura that has a beautiful gold eye color that's perfect for all the parties coming up!
Shine Mystique Eye Color in Ivy Gold was part of their Morphorium (Spring 2011) collection although this product did not receive as much attention as the palettes. Last I checked, it's still available in select Shu Uemura counters.
It's packed in a jar with one comparatively large hole... something I don't see in most loose product containers. I guess it's better than no sifter at all. Tilting the jar allows it to dispense a good amount of product. A little more than what I need for both eyes, actually.
Coming out of the container, it looks dark greenish gold so my first impression of it wasn't great. However, when I started to work the product onto my skin, it's actually lighter - a true gold color! Lovely, right? According to a Shu Uemura makeup artist, this is best worn underneath cream eyeshadow. It allows the product to stick to the eyelid longer. I've tried it and it worked out fine for me that have not bothered trying this on wet. I bet this would make a great liquid liner though.
I have a metal allergy so some gold pigments just irritate my skin. I'm glad I don't have that kind of reaction with this product.
In terms of texture, Shine Mystique Eye Color applies smoothly which makes very easy to blend. I wish Shu Uemura would bring this product back and produce more colors. It really is a wonderful thing to have and I'm quite excited to use this color more often.
